Deck Maintenance

So you’ve enlisted the help of the Deck Team to refinish your deck and are now enjoying your beautiful, like-new deck... now how do you maintain this pristine look?  It's important to protect your investment, so that you can reap the benefits for years to come. So how long before I have to refinish again? Tune in as we walk though our annual maintenance process and procedures to ensure your newly refinished deck stays seriously great,

Routine care is the way to go! Our team at Webfoot can perform annual inspections, catching rot, damage, and compromised finishes early.

The first step in maintaining the appearance is taking advantage of our free annual inspections.  Each year after the initial refinish, we’ll follow up with you for your inspection.  We’ll come by at scheduled time and check your stained surfaces for signs of wear.  This allows us to track the condition of your deck and better understand your maintenance needs.  In most cases a simple wash with our blend of non-toxic wood cleaners and touch up of stain is all that is necessary.  The goal of these inspections is to put together a comprehensive maintenance plan that fits your needs without over doing it.  Believe it or not, there is such a thing as too much stain.  We’re not there to sell you on another recoat each and every year.  Too much stain can lead to those sticky, shiny areas that never seem to dry- anyone with a deck knows what we’re talking about here!  Those areas are completely unacceptable and are simply a result of someone not being properly trained in the art of deck maintenance.

Wood surfaces need just the right amount of stain- not too much and not too little.  Even the tone of stain can be a big factor in your maintenance plan since most of the UV protective elements in stain are found in the pigments.  Varying ages and types of wood may require different levels of protection.  Combine that all with your level of exposure to weather- Is it covered or partially covered? Are there gutters installed? And your level of use- Do you entertain regularly? Do you have kids/pets? And our maintenance plans become a scientific study of what your deck lives and breathes day in and day out.  Our maintenance plan seeks to find that sweet spot for your deck and keep it within acceptable levels of protection.

Once we have it looking like new, we can maintain that appearance at a fraction of the refinishing cost.  It’s actually cheaper to enjoy a healthy looking deck with a regular maintenance plan than it is to refinish your deck every 3-4 years after letting it weather and discolor.  With proper maintenance, we can keep your deck looking beautiful for many years to come.  We have decks in Central Oregon that were refinished up to five years ago that still look beautiful.  With the Deck Team you can say good bye to costly refinishing every other year.
