But first... just a few reminders!
Webfoot is looking to celebrate a local hero with a Serious painting, carpentry, and/or deck need to tackle for its annual giveaway. We care deeply about our Central Oregon neighbors and thought a retired first responder or retired (or honorably separated) military personnel would be the perfect recipient for our 9th annual Project Serious award.
Homeowners who are retired police officers, firefighters, EMTs, or retired (or honorably separated) military personnel in Bend, Redmond, Sunriver, and Sisters are eligible to apply. Since the bravest and most giving among us are often the most humble and least likely to nominate themselves for this giveaway, we are also accepting submissions on their behalf from their friends, family, and neighbors. We can only accept ONE nomination per hero, so be sure you all coordinate your efforts if you want to collectively nominate someone. This year’s application process includes both our brief online entry form and either clear photos or a 60-second amateur video (the more creative and heartfelt, the better!) of the need that we can post to our social media accounts for voting.
Heroes (or their fans) can submit their entries online between January 30 and February 28. Just remember, submitting earlier means you will have more time to collect votes. Once your complete submission is received and fully reviewed to be sure it meets our criteria, we will post your photos or video to our Facebook and Instagram accounts. Each like, reaction, and share will count as one vote, so be sure you’re sending your supporters to our social media pages directly. Voting will close on March 5 and the winner will be announced live on Facebook, March 7.
Complete your online entry form above.
Once your online entry is processed, you’ll receive a link to a Dropbox folder. You’ll complete your submission by saving your 60-second video or photos to that folder. Please be sure to label your file with your hero’s full name.
If you choose to create a video, it should be no more than 60 seconds in length and should be able to post to Facebook and Instagram. Your video should be low-budget (or no-budget!), creative, fun, and heartfelt (Seriously Great). Tell us and our customers why you/your hero should be the 2018 Project Serious award recipient!
Your video should be in MP4 format and should have all permissions for reposting and sharing enabled. The video should be compressed to 20 MB or less for social media. Be sure there’s no fade-in intro as your lead image will show black on Instagram.
Be sure to test your video on Instagram and Facebook before submitting so you know they will work.
If you choose to submit photos, make sure they are as high-quality as possible. No need for professional work - just clear and comprehensive! And, here’s a tip for you smartphone users: for the best results, hold your phone sideways to take pictures with a landscape orientation. They look the best on social media!
You are welcome to promote your submission on your own social media accounts, but please share our Facebook posting of your video or photos to your own timeline and then tag Webfoot Painting on Instagram (@webfoot_seriouslygreat) - the only votes that count are on the posts made to our social accounts. Add the hashtags #projectserious and #seriouslygreat. We find #giveaway, #givingback, #oregon, #inbend, and #hero to also be helpful on Instagram.
