Tie Breaker Vote Awards J Bar J Youth Services with $10,000 in Painting Services
BEND, OR – It came down to an unprecedented tie breaker vote. Each year the Webfoot Painting employees and supporting sponsors gather to discuss the nominees and then each person votes for their favorite. Typically there are just two rounds of voting, first to bring the group of nominees down to three parties, and then to vote for the winner. This year there was a tie at Round Two, so we went into OVERTIME! A second tie would have been broken by supporting sponsor Sherwin Williams, but that wasn't necessary. The 2015 winner of the Non-Profit Edition, Webfoot Painting Charity Paint Giveaway, receiving $10,000 in paint and services is J Bar J Youth Services. They have elected to use this gift to clean up and protect their aging building on SW Century Drive, the Cascade Youth and Family Center (CYFC).
If the tie breaker is any indication, this was an extremely close vote with J Bar J narrowly edging out Central Oregon Disability Support Network which recently acquired a new building in Redmond. Cascade Youth and Family Center underwent an interior remodel last year courtesy of the Rotary Club of Greater Bend. With the $10,000 in painting services now coming their way, this should really help finalize their improvements and give the youths that call the CYFC their home, a place they can be proud of. Webfoot will be tackling a complete and thorough exterior repaint of the building, as well as some overdue interior painting work to their sleeping quarters.
For the sixth consecutive year, the entire Webfoot team will provide their time, talents and resources using paint products donated by Sherwin Williams to freshen up and restore a seriously great local non-profit, J Bar J Youth Services. Their family of organizations include Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Academy at Sisters, J Bar J Boys Ranch, the Learning Center, High Desert Classics, and of course, the Cascade Youth and Family Center. All organizations support youths and help them grow and succeed as happy, healthy adults who contribute to their families and their community. Webfoot will start this work the week of May 4th, completing on May 9th with over 40 staff members and volunteers.
This gift will allow their team to focus on their mission of prevention, intervention, and crisis services for adolescents and their families. The staff at Webfoot Painting is extremely happy to have the opportunity to work with another local group dedicated to supporting and developing at-risk youths in our community.
Webfoot Painting announces the start of their 6th Annual Painting Charity Giveaway. This year, the event comes with a big incentive for local non-profits. 2015 will mark the first ever “Non-Profit Edition” giveaway and where only these groups will be considered.
The Bend-based company will select one local non-profit or charitable group in the Bend/Redmond area based on painting need and compelling story to receive $10,000 in free paint, labor and materials. Previous winners of this giveaway include the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Oregon, the Deschutes Children Foundation, and the Bethlehem Inn.
Last year, in the first ever Home Edition Giveaway, the Schwarz family of Bend was selected. The Schwarz family had touched a lot of lives over the years and now it was time to pay tribute to their contributions to the community. With help from Kevin Link of Sunwest Builders and Charlie Miller of Miller Lumber, the Schwarz family got a complete exterior makeover with new siding, windows, and fresh paint. Once again Sherwin Williams donated all the necessary materials and supplies and Sarah Phipps Design help put together an attractive color scheme for the home.
Webfoot Painting will begin collecting nominations for their 2015 Non-Profit Edition- $10,000 Painting Charity Giveaway via their website on Monday, January 5th. For the sixth consecutive year, the entire Webfoot team will provide their time, talents and resources using paint products donated by Sherwin Williams to freshen up and restore one of the non-profits in our area. This gift will allow these groups to focus their financial efforts towards doing the things they do best- strengthening our community. Nominations will be collected through the end of February with the winner being determined by a company vote in March. The only condition is that you have a compelling story of why this charitable group or non-profit deserves the free painting services. Pictures and other supporting materials that display painting need is always encouraged.
Webfoot asks the community to provide written stories, pictures and any supporting materials no later than February 28, 2015 via the company’s website submission form (www.webfootpainting.com), email (email@example.com), or mail (20585 Brinson Blvd #4, Bend, OR 97701).
Come join us for "Carving for Kids" Saturday, October 25th from 10am - 5pm in the Newport Ave. Market front parking lot. We'll be selling cleaned pumpkins for carving, already carved pumpkins of various designs, and even custom carved pumpkins with business logo's for the office or storefront. 100% of the proceeds will be going directly to the MountainStar Family Relief Nursery. They are a great organization dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect in Central Oregon by providing services to keep children safe, parents successful, and families together.
This will be the 5th year that we've held this event at Newport Market. Just like last year, we'll be hosting hands-on pumpkin carving for kids! At the top of each hour our trained volunteers will help kids design and carve their very own jack-o-lanterns. All pumpkins have been graciously donated by the Central Oregon Pumpkin Co out of Terrebonne (known for their massize corn Maize). Press Pros of Bend is contributing with promotional materials, and Newport Ave. Market is kind enough to let us use their parking lot.
This is going to be a great family event, come stop by and say hello. Even if you want to carve your own jack-o-lanterns, we'll have everything you need, plus no mess to clean up! Businesses interested in logo'd pumpkins can pre-order their pumpkins for pick-up on Saturday! Last year we raised $8800, this year we're hoping to reach the $10,000 mark! That would be enough money to support two familiies for a full year at MountainStar.
BEND, OR - With warm, dry weather now in the High Desert, the Seriously Great Painters of Webfoot Painting Co, have their eyes set on the exterior of their 2014 giveaway recipient. For their 5th annual giveaway, Webfoot decided to focus on families and households in the first ever Home Edition. The selected family, receiving $5000 in painting services and paint donated by Sherwin Williams, is the Schwarz Family- Janet, and their six kids. On Saturday, June 14th, the seriously great painters of Bend will complete a home makeover that actually began several months prior.
The Schwarz family was nominated at the start of the acceptance process back in January. Sadly their nomination was updated in February following the passing of Doug Schwarz who had been courageously fighting esophageal cancer for the past 3 years. Their family has touched so many lives over the years that others have teamed up to help their family with some big home projects.
Kevin Link with Sunwest Builders and Charlie Miller of Miller Lumber have come together to help the Schwarz family with new windows and new siding for the entire house. Sarah Phipps Design has also provided a beautiful color palette for the home. With new paint coming from Webfoot Painting, the outside of this home is soon to be fully updated and looking beautiful. These are all projects Doug had on his to-do list before becoming ill.
Webfoot Painting would like to thank all those that submitted nominations for their giveaway. They would also like to thank Sunwest Builders and Miller Lumber for their huge contributions to the Schwarz family, as well as Sarah Phipps Design, Brian Page Design, and Sherwin Williams for coming together to help this great local family.
Next year will bring the first ever Non-Profit Edition of Webfoot’s giveaway, where only non-profits and charitable organizations will be considered. With past winners being very large projects for the Ronald McDonald House of Bend (2010), Deschutes Children’s Foundation (2011), and the Bethlehem Inn (2013), 2015 should mean some serious painting taking place in our community- seriously.
Webfoot Painting Co., a leading Central Oregon residential and commercial painting company, announces its 5th Annual $5,000 Painting Charity Giveaway. This year, the event comes with a little twist. 2014 will mark the first ever “Home Edition” giveaway and will be all about families and households in need. Next year will bring, you guessed it, Non-Profit Edition!
The Bend-based company will select one recipient in the Bend/Redmond area based on need and compelling story to receive $5,000 in free paint, labor and materials.
Last year, the Bethlehem Inn, Central Oregon's only emergency shelter, was selected as the beneficiary of the annual giveaway. The exterior surfaces of their three buildings were severely worn and hadn’t been painted in over 15 years. Now the once severely rusted metal railings, 50 worn and beaten front doors and door trim, and other trim/siding on the buildings are protected and looking sharp. The Bethlehem Inn and Webfoot Painting would like to thank once again last year’s supporting sponsors Sherwin Williams who donated all paint and materials, Press Pros who donated promotional flyers, ORSA Design who donated a free color consultation, Quality Interior Works and Montgomery Builders for donating carpentry work, Miller Lumber for donating building materials, and Brian Page Design.
Webfoot Painting will begin collecting stories of worthy recipients for their 2014 $5000 Painting Charity Giveaway via their website on Monday, January 13th.
